Discussion: The Polar MM5, a mesoscale atmospheric model based on the fifth-generation Pennsylvania State University– NCAR Mesoscale Model, has been run for the period of July 1996 through June 1999. It identified areas of annual precipitation minus sublimation and indicated large values (in excess of 800 mm per year along the coast of East and West Antarctica, and over the Antarctic Peninsula."
